Look what I found in blogland this weekend - a significant other knitting meme! I pinched it from Random Knits, and then found it in a few more places. The MOMD was more than happy to be the star of an entire show - I mean post.
Me: What is your favourite thing about my knitting?
The MOMD: The happiness that it brings to your face when you finish something.
Me: What is your least favourite thing about my knitting?
The MOMD: It keeps you up late at night.
Me: It does not!
The MOMD: Well it keeps you up later than 10 o’clock at night…
Me: What is something I have knitted, that you recall as good?
The MOMD: Noro cardi.
Me: Do you think knitters have an expensive hobby?
The MOMD: Depends how good they are.
Me: How so?
The MOMD: The better they are, the more they knit, the more they spend. And it depends if one’s stash-ability is proportional to one’s knitability.
Me: laughing.
Me: Do you have a hobby?
The MOMD: I’m between hobbies.
Me: Do you have a stash?
The MOMD: No, not as such.
Me: Have I ever embarrassed you, knitting in public?
The MOMD: (lots of thinking) mildly.
Me: When was that?
The MOMD: Earlier on in the piece when we were visiting people and sitting down for a cuppa and you started knitting – embarrassed, or thought it was rude – hmmm (sounds unsure)
Me: So does me knitting in public embarrass you now?
The MOMD: No.
Me: Do you know my favourite kind of yarn?
The MOMD: for socks or for knitting? You like Noro for jumpers, you like stuff for socks, you like alpaca, silk…
Me: Can you name another blog?
The MOMD: Blogs, or bloggers like Black Crow? there’s Cindy 2paw, there’s Tinkingbell
Me: Now, do you mind my wanting to stop at knit shops where ever we go?
The MOMD: Don’t mind, as long as you don’t spend money.
Me: Do you understand the importance of a swatch?
The MOMD: Yes. It’s getting your tension right.
(He has been known to look at me sitting on the floor surrounded by needles, yarn and patterns, and to ask how my swatching was going - he was always going to get a gold medal on that question)
Me: Do you read Knights Don’t Knit?
The MOMD: yes, secretly, at night.
Me: Have you ever left a comment?
The MOMD: Can’t recall if I have or not – I’ve added comments to what you were blogging about, like the Mashed Potato episode.
Me: Do you the house would be cleaner if I didn't knit?
The MOMD: Invariably the answer would be yes.
Me: Why?
The MOMD: If you weren’t knitting, there wouldn’t be knitting clutter.
Me: Are you ignoring my tendency to make piles of whatever books I’m reading, or anything else I’m using?*
The MOMD: No, I’m not ignoring it, just if there was no knitting there’d be one less thing to make clutter out of.
Me: Anything else you’d like to add?
The MOMD: That I love you. And your happiness is my happiness. And that I’m glad you’re enjoying knitting and your knitting buddy community. You knit nice things for our kids and nice socks for yourself. And that when you knit you should cuddle me as well. And that’s about all I’ve got to say about that.
Me: thank you Forrest.
The MOMD: Except to repeat – no, to iterate that I love you. Not reiterate (that's a tautology - go look it up). And that I hope my answers have been productive and useful and enjoyable for your knitting-viewing public. And that I love you.
Me: That’ll do, Babe, that’ll do.
* please note that the MOMD is not known for compulsively putting away his own belongings. In fact, as Librans born one year and one day apart, faffing around is pretty much standard in any non-urgent activity. Blinds need dusting? one day… Child screaming about heavy object on toe? No faffing.
